Pair of 19th-century Italian sgabelli

Chiseled gilt bronze, wood and leather.
These elegant sgabelli (small stools) consist of a wooden core adorned with bronze plates, moldings, feet, and decorative elements.
The seat is topped with a leather cushion embossed with a coat of arms.
The flat sides are decorated with intricate arabesques, and the cornice-like rim of the seat is adorned with a frieze of flowers and fruit, and lion heads in the spandrels.
Ram's heads at the top corners balance the volume of these small pieces of furniture with the overhanging feet.
The leather-covered seat, secured by four nails, is thus marked with a coat of arms border. The central escutcheon bore the coat of arms in polychrome paint. The almost complete wear of the shield forced us to remove the remaining paint.
These pieces can perfectly serve as bases for lamps; simply prepare a molded wooden disc to the dimensions of the lamp's base, using a leather-colored coating to protect the leather itself (see photo).

The seat is removable.

Condition: Excellent, gilding completely redone. The leather is undamaged except for minor wear.

Dimensions:
Height: 46 cm, footprint: 36 cm x 36 cm, leather disc: 31 cm x 31 cm.
