Matthew was the author of the first gospel account and often symbolized by a winged man or an angel. His gospel starts with Joseph’s genealogy from Abraham.
Mark was the author of the second gospel, often symbolized by a winged lion, a figure that represents courage and monarchy. It also stands for Christ As King, it signifies that Christians should be courageous on the path to salvation.
