18th century, Pair of Venetian Baroque Giltwood Mirrors

This important pair of baroque mirrors was built in the Venetian area (Italy) around the middle of the 18th century.
The mirrors are presented inside a rectangular frame, with a mixed-line top edge. The frame is divided into three portions. The interior, which surrounds the mirror, and the exterior are finely carved with phytomorphic motifs. The moulded and median is smooth, decorated on the corners and half of the sides with carvings in bas-relief in a vegetable style. An important and refined cymatium in finely carved, openwork and gilded wood crowns the upper part of the frames. Ramage of leaves and flowers intertwine creating a graceful and refined pattern. On the upper sides the ornament ends with two vases from which a composition of flowers emerges, while in the center the mirrors are surmounted by a large shield with coat of arms (truncated red and green, in the first to the two gold stars, in the second to the gold star) with external ornaments, composed of the helmet, heraldic attribute reserved for nobles, and “lambrecchini”.
These valuable mirrors are very decorative and of great scenic effect. They can be placed, individually or in pairs, in multiple environments, such as entrances and corridors, living rooms and studios, bedrooms or representative environments. Of great refinement in the carving and in their composition as a whole, they can be placed on the wall as furniture elements, or interspersed with paintings, placed over consoles or drawers, and combined with both antique and modern furniture.
The mirrors, made of two sections, are contemporary.
