17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Large early 18th-century Regency mirror in giltwood, featuring a double frame of moldings in the central section, known as "à la Bérain."
The frames are flanked at each corner by spandrels adorned with flowers, acanthus leaves, and openwork arabesques.
The pediment is shaped, and its exquisite ornamentation, combining leafy scrolls, shells, arabesques, and birds, is noteworthy. It is also surmounted by a large palmette surrounded by two floral baskets.
This mirror is further adorned with a graceful floral basket on the lower rail. Highly decorative and of considerable size, it has retained its original gilding and mercury glass.
