This remarkable set of four 19th century monumental solid silver candlesticks, each standing 68 cm tall, was crafted by the distinguished German silversmith Franz Xavier Hellner (1819–1901). Hellner was one of the foremost Rhine-region masters of 19th-century historicist ecclesiastical silverwork, renowned for his skill in the neo-Gothic idiom and his workshop’s production of liturgical and ceremonial objects.
Executed with meticulous craftsmanship and a lustrous finish, the set reflects Hellner’s mastery of form and decorative vocabulary, making them not merely functional objects but prestigious works of silver artistry. They would be particularly suited to a grand ecclesiastical setting, a formal interior ensemble, or a museum collection illustrating historicist metalwork of the 19th century.
