Gérard Willemenot (1943) studied at the Ecole des Arts in Paris and, after 20 years working as an architect, decided to pursue his lifelong passion: painting.
He works mainly with egg tempera on panel and is inspired by old masters such as Hieronymus Bosch, Bruegel and Memling.
These masters fascinate him in terms of subject matter and technique.
He is also inspired by the still lifes and use of trompe l'oeil by Flemish painters in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Signed lower right, Gerard Willemenot.
