17th-century Aubusson tapestry - Jesus and the Samaritan woman

In the New Testament, only the Gospel of John (4:1-30) recounts the episode of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman. According to Orthodox Christian tradition, this woman is named Photine the Samaritan.

When Jesus, resting by a well on his return to Galilee, asked her for a drink, the Samaritan woman was astonished that he, a Jew, would dare ask her for water: Jews despised Samaritans and did not speak to them. Jesus replied that the water she drew did not quench thirst, but that the living water he gave would spring forth, and whoever drank from it would never thirst again.

This magnificent tapestry has undergone a thorough cleaning, hand-lined with 100% linen fabric, and meticulous inspection by our experts in our workshop. It is now ready to adorn your home.
