Cartel clock with a carved, inlaid, and gilded wooden case featuring an ornate floral design, including an eagle at the top. The white enamel dial features Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the date, signed Dominique Farina.
In addition to the quality of the stunning carving, the wooden case is also noteworthy for its naturalistic aspect. The clock is surrounded by a truly unique climbing plant: hops. This plant grew wild at the time and is now widespread in Piedmont, also cultivated for beer production. It was evidently considered an ornamental plant at the time.
