Louis XV candlesticks, Meissen porcelain children

An elegant pair of Louis XV period candlesticks, crafted from finely chased and gilded bronze, resting on a serpentine, openwork base decorated in the rocaille style with foliate scrolls.
Each candlestick is richly adorned with a central statuette of a child in polychrome Meissen porcelain. They are executed with great finesse and delicate colors.

The clothing depicted is typical of 18th-century decorative iconography, inspired by both aristocratic children's fashion and the pastoral taste favored during the reign of Louis XV.

On one side, a little boy, dressed in a long yellow jacket richly trimmed with blue piping, matching breeches, and white stockings accentuated by delicate yellow shoes. He wears a bow tie and a wide-brimmed hat in the same color as his clothing. This ensemble of "French-style" attire suggests a young man of good standing, with a touch of theatrical flair.

The young girl, on the other hand, evokes the rustic taste of the 18th century. She wears a mauve dress with a fitted bodice laced up the front. Her full yellow skirt, decorated with mauve and red flowers, is enhanced by a green, puffy overskirt. At her feet are small flowers, and in her raised hands, a small bird.

This outfit reflects the rustic and gallant style popularized by pastoral festivals, Meissen porcelain, and scenes inspired by Watteau and Boucher.

The figures, full of grace and vivacity, blend seamlessly into the abundant vegetal decoration of the gilt bronze.
Behind them, three candelabra, adorned with a chiseled foliage motif, rise elegantly, terminating in sockets sculpted as stylized flowers.

A fine Louis XV period piece in polychrome Meissen porcelain and gilt bronze, retaining its original gilding.
