Bourdaloue in Chinese porcelain, famille rose, from the Qianlong period
(1736–1795), with polychrome decoration of flowers and foliage, retaining its lid.
Of oblong form, this small object, a kind of urinal, owes its name to the Jesuit priest Louis Bourdaloue, whose long and eloquent sermons made it indispensable for devout women.
