A mahogany cabinet of architectural form, resting on a rectangular base and opening with four drawers in the front. The drawers are lined with dark brown leather, finely enhanced with gilt fillets and friezes, and adorned with circular gilt bronze knobs. A concealed drawer is set into the upper band. It opens by pushing.
The front and sides are highlighted with finely chased gilt bronze mounts. The uprights are fluted in a square column. The upper frieze is finely decorated with a gilt bronze frieze and a satyr's head. The top is adorned with an inset Carrara marble slab, surrounded by an openwork gilt bronze gallery.
The elegance and high-end characteristics of this cabinet suggest it is a work attributed to Bernard Molitor (master in 1787). It displays all the quality and finesse of this great cabinetmaker. A rare distinction and a controlled simplicity.
