Elegant pair of Louis XV armchairs in finely carved and gilded wood, stamped by Delanois (1731–1792), one of the most renowned chair makers under Louis XV and preferred supplier to an aristocratic clientele.
The cabriolet-back armchairs feature graceful, flowing lines. They rest on four curved legs carved with falling flowers. The finely crafted belt curves outwards and features delicate workmanship in the center representing a combination of two flowers and foliage.
The whip-shaped armrests are topped with upholstered cuffs, adding a touch of elegance to the whole.
The cabriolet backrest ends at the top with a sculpture of flowers and knotted foliage, similar to the belt.
It is topped with brown silk velvet upholstery with a damask pattern.
Louis XV period work stamped by Louis Delanois (1731-1792) – chair maker – master craftsman on July 27, 1761.
