17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
A lovely pair of large cabriolet armchairs carved from 18th-century walnut.
The rails of the backs and seats, as well as the tops of the legs, are decorated with raised, carved florets and leaves.
The armrest supports, finished in a whiplash curve, are adorned with cuffs.
These armchairs rest on cabriole legs topped with precisely drawn acanthus leaves, the moldings of which meet those of the shaped rails.
Note the elegance and balance of these large seats, the depth of the molding, and the ornamental diversity of the florets on the rails and backs.
These chairs are in perfect condition and were reupholstered in a beautiful silk fabric from Maison Germain in Lyon.
