Bi ceramic disc

Unique ceramic piece signed by the artist. The symbolism of the work is inspired by the Bi discs of ancient China. The Bi disc symbolizes the Celestial Universe, which, like itself, is round and infinite, representing an opening to eternal life. The firing technique used is that of naked raku, partly inspired by the Japanese raku tradition invented in the 16th century. The clay used for this piece is a chamotte stoneware clay to withstand the strong thermal shocks of firing.
