An important mantelpiece set, consisting of a clock and two three-light candelabras.
The clock is in patinated and gilded bronze and depicts Cupid veiling the passing of Time. He points to his attributes, a torch and a quiver, supported by a flowering cloud. The beautifully enameled dial is signed by F. Berthoud Paris.
The ensemble rests on a rectangular base of griotte marble, highlighted in the upper part by a double frieze in gilded bronze with floral and interlacing motifs, and in the lower part by a frieze of alternating spandrels and acanthus leaves.
The patinated and gilded bronze candelabra depict two putti holding three fleur-de-lis ending in three lights.
