Large pedestal table in rosewood and gilt bronze, top in breccia violette marble.
Louis XV style, Napoleon III period.
Circa 1870
All grace and elegance, this large pedestal table illustrates the refined taste of the 19th century for curved shapes and precious decorations inspired by the Louis XV style.
The frame, in carefully veined rosewood veneer, presents a work of great finesse, underlined by a delicate ornamentation of gilt bronzes, foliate falls, scrolls and richly chiseled sabots.
The circular top in breccia violette marble, framed by a gilt bronze ingot mold, gives the whole a beautiful visual presence. The deep shades of the marble, mixing purple, white and pink, dialogue harmoniously with the warm tones of the wood and the golden reflections of the bronze.
Supported by four curved scrolled legs, this pedestal table combines the sensuality of the rocaille design and the rigor of Second Empire manufacturing.
Its elegant and balanced appearance makes it an ideal piece to accompany a living room, a bedroom or a refined entrance.
