Large Empire-style mahogany veneer chest of drawers with detached columns. It opens with four drawers: three large ones and one at the bottom. Beautiful flamed mahogany veneer from Saint Domingue and woody mahogany, covered with thick Sainte Anne gray marble. High-quality model with rich mercury-gilded bronze fittings in matte and gloss finishes - column rings, rosette pull knobs and an altar of Love on the drawer. Parisian oak construction from the late Empire period, 1810s.
Very good overall condition, the French polish has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. Beautiful color, the mahogany is not sun-bleached.
In the overall photos, our chest of drawers is shown flanked by two Empire swan-neck armchairs attributed to Bellangé. It is topped by an oil on canvas painting depicting Homer after François Gérard. On the marble top are a globe, a pair of Russian or Swedish Empire torches, and a pair of large porcelain ornamental vases, all from the same period and available for sale on our website.
