Sculpture, paintings and art objects of the 18TH and 19th centuries
Pair of candelabra in cherry marble, chiseled bronze, and gold leaf.
This pair of candelabra belongs to what was sometimes called the “Spectacular Second Empire” in reference to the world's fairs where the creations of the great makers of the time were presented. These creations rivaled each other in technical complexity, elegance, and noble or rare materials.
These candelabra borrow heavily from the decorative vocabulary of the Renaissance, with a faun mascaron under a pediment with volutes and a canopy on each side.
The quality of the ensemble makes it a prestigious object, as was desired at the time.
Dimensions of the candelabra: Height: 92cm.
