Offered by Étienne de Roissart
Very fine French Louis XVI period corner cabinet in cherrywood.
Its triangular structure, designed to fit neatly into a corner, is topped with a veined grey Saint-Anne marble top. The body of the piece is richly adorned with exceptionally unusual marquetry featuring geometric shapes, composed of various fruitwoods and exotic woods. The marquetry is also remarkable for its striking contrasts in color, ranging from light to dark tones. The door showcases a central marquetry motif depicting an eight-pointed compass rose. The door frame is further decorated with two Bethlehem stars, lozenges, and other figures, adding an additional geometric character to the piece. The entire cabinet is enhanced with small bone ornaments.
