Oil on canvas depicting a bouquet of flowers in a vase on an entablature. Signed lower right E.GAUDISSARD. Painter, sculptor, decorator and upholsterer, born in Algiers in 1872. French School. Member of the French Artists Association since 1906, he appeared at the Salon and received an honorable mention in 1896; the same award in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition. He is classified as an orientalist, and had Gabriel-Jules Thomas as his master at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Museums: Algiers, Constantine, Oran, Bou Ismail, Angers, Beauvais, Paris, Perpignan, Strasbourg, Puteaux. He collaborated in particular with the Beauvais factory for the creation of the furniture for the Council Room of the Elysée (1927-1933), and for a low warp tapestry "fish" covering a screen, in 1935 (cf. "Elegance and modernity, 1908-1958, A French revival", exhibition at the Gobelins gallery in 2009.)
