Selection of furniture from the 16th to the 19th century
Large pair of angels in natural and gilded carved wood. A great tenderness emanates from the faces of the seraphim.
The two envoys from Heaven each hold a phylactery carved from the solid wood. The Latin phrases "Quae cœli pandis ostium" and "Bella premunt hostilia" come from O salutaris Hostia, a Christian hymn composed by Saint Thomas Aquinas and sung during daily Mass during the reign of Louis XIV in the presence of the Sun King.
The large gilded wings folded along the body are gilded.
18th century period. Typical restorations.
