An elegant “Théière Calabre” oviform teapot made by the Sèvres Manufactory in 1785, with interlaced “L” marks enclosing “HH” for the year. Each side features a finely painted oval reserve: one showing a dragoon leaning on a tree stump in a pastoral landscape, the other a soldier in blue playfully flirting with a lady beside a barrel. The background is decorated in a celadon pointillé ground with richly tooled gilt cartouches, likely gilded by a member of the Wedinger family.
Height: 13.5 cm
Date: 1785
Overall in good condition. Minor, invisible restoration to the finial and the tip of the spout, not affecting display or visual appreciation.
