Offered by Mora Antiques
A finely crafted pair of cassolettes or potpourri vases, executed in gilt and patinated bronze combined with cut crystal. Each piece rests on a triangular base with paw feet and profiled mouldings, surmounted by three Egyptian-style figures in dark patinated bronze with gilt details. The figures support a removable crystal bowl, deeply cut in a diamond pattern and mounted with finely chiselled gilt-bronze rims.
The quality of the bronze work, the depth of the decorative relief, and the sober yet monumental composition are characteristic of refined French decorative arts from the first half of the 19th century. The underside features a traditional construction with a central screw mount, indicating handcrafted assembly.
