Oil on canvas depicting a young woman holding her sleeping child in her arms. Signed Van Belle, dated 1933 lower right. Symbolist painter, born in Ghent, his compositions exude a great poetry, tinged with a certain dreamlike quality. He studied at the Fine Arts School in Ghent under the direction of emblematic figures of the Belgian school of painting such as Van Biesbroeck, Delvin, or Tytgat.
