A Medieval bronze seal belonging to a Rector.

English, 14th century.

Measures 4 x 2.5 cm.

Weighs 17.62 grams.

Seal design shows a seven petal flower with a six point star above and crescent moon below.

The inscription appears to read ’S WILL I RTOR ECCE DE KYRKEBI SP BVN’, (Seal of Wiilliam Rector Church of Kirkby on Bain). Records do show there were eight Rectors of the Church of Kirkby on Bain with name “William” between 1260 – 1586.
