An oil on cardboard on the border of cubism and expressionism measuring 70X50 cm representing a farm in Brabant signed lower right and dated 1925

Roger Parent (1881-1986): Impressionist, then Fauvist, then neo-Cubist painter of figures, landscapes and still lifes. Trained in Paris, at the National School of Fine Arts and at the free workshop on rue Marcadet where he met Pierre Mac Orlan and Suzanne Valadon. He began in Paris in 1904 at the Salon des Indépendants. He settled in Brussels in 1902 then lived again in Paris between 1910 and 1914 where he practiced photography. First individual exhibition at the Galerie Georges Giroux in 1921. He participated in the exhibition of Kunst van Heden (Contemporary Art, 1922) and the Venice Biennale (1922). He belongs to the group of Brabant fauvists. It evolves towards a stylized and decorative painting of cubist inspiration. Member of the Circle of XV. Retrospectives in Saint-Denis in 1971 (Municipal Museum), in Brussels in 1963 (Baron René Steens gallery), in Beersel in 1987 (Herman Teirlinckgalerij) and in Uccle in 1998 (Candelaershuys). Work at the Ixelles Museum.
