A coquilla ship form snuff box.
French, early 19th century.
Measures 11 x 5 x 4.3cm.
The stern of the sixty four gun frigate bears the name ‘Jupiter’, the figurehead in the form of a mermaid playing a lyre. The lid is carved with a figure of Jupiter alongside his wife Juno amongst other gods and Jupiters eagle.
