Pair Of Large Fountain Tritons Early 18th century

These two large bronzes adorned a fountain.
They are two tritons in acanthus sheath, the intertwined "legs" ending in a rolled volute.
Amazing detail; they carry above their head a marble egg from Languedoc (a little smaller than a hen's egg).
Their posture and attachment marks indicate that these newts were caryatids, supporting a console pelvis on their shoulders, for example.
Besides, these two statues could make it possible to create a fountain in an orangery, among other possibilities.
Although made to be seen at a certain distance, their design is very lively, treated in classical statuary, moreover we will think of the basins of Versailles of which these statues have the quality.
