French school of the first part of the 19th century dated in the middle left 1834.
The portrait is very well painted and the light is omnipresent in the painting. It could be a youthful work by Théodore CHASSÉRIAU (1819-1856). Indeed, the young painter had Dominique Ingres as a teacher from 1830 to 1834 and he detected very early the talent of his young pupil.
In 1834 Theodore was 15 years old, the age when he realized one of his masterpieces; The portrait of Prosper Marilhat.
