This centerpiece, or surtout de table, was made in the Tuscany, Italy, in neoclassical era at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
The top, under glass, has a fine painting on paper applied on canvas with geometric decoration in classical style. Inside oval are depicted fan motifs and in the center, within a lozenge, there are grotesque drawings.
The metal edging is chiseled in the corners with foliated decorations.
Each sector, in all three, is suspended from the ground by four feet in turned wood.
This very decorative centerpiece is perfect as a tray or table top in the middle of a table, but also as an ornamental element on a console or a dresser. Perfect both combined with antique furniture and modern times. The color of the painting, in pink, purple and blue tones, are very current and particularly harmonious.
