Lion's Head, France 16th century

Guaranteed to make you smile! This hilarious lion looks like a mix of Fozzie Bear, a stoned poodle and a chimp on valium. He was most probably a heraldic lion holding the shield from his lord (Blackadder?) in his front paws. Walnut, early 16th century. Remains of red and greenish polychromy. Wear, losses and a crack in the central part of the skull. Dimensions (without stand): 29x10x13cm
