Trumeau in lacquered and gilded wood, Louis XVI period

Beautiful and elegant Provencal overmantel in pearl grey lacquered wood and gilded, decorated with a canvas representing a marine scene animated with characters from the school of the painter Charles François Lacroix de Marseille, born in Marseille around 1700 and died in Berlin in 1779 or 1782 of his real name Grenier de Lacroix, a French painter specialized in landscape and marine painting in the taste of Joseph Vernet, Jean-Joseph Kapeller (1702-1790) and Henry d'Arles.
He was a student and imitator of his master Joseph Vernet and stayed in Rome in 1754.
Our overmantel is provided with its original mercury glass and its gilded bronze sconces.
Very good condition, the canvas for protection has been doubled at the back.
Built in oak.
Dimensions : h.168 cm x l.116 cm x d.5 cm.
