Holy Conversation - Flanders early 17th century attributed to Hendrick van Balen

Holy Conversation , oil on copper dimensions , 22 cm x 17 cm , with the frame 45 cm x 39 cm , attributed to Hendrick van Balen , early 17th century .
Our painting with a king and his crown and a lyre, a young boy kneeling and moreover the head of a pig which appears on the left at the feet of the young boy, poses us question on its interpretation, we took again the title which was given to him until now. Which king is it? As for the pig in Christian culture, if it appears at the feet of a saint it is to indicate that he has succeeded in defeating the devil.
Hendrick van Balen is a Flemish painter of the Baroque period, born in Antwerp in 1575 and died on July 17, 1632 in the same city. He specialized in mythological and religious scenes. He traveled to Italy and visited Rome and Venice. His pupils were Gerard Seghers , Antoine Van Dyck and Frans Snyders . His works are in many museums, including the Louvre.
