The design of thisSpactacular pair of arrow shaped Empire candlesticks in gilded bronze is exceptional. The symbolism of the design refers to Eros, god of love. Especially the barrel, which has the shape of a down facing arrow. The candlesticks rest on a circular base which carries decorations of quivers, arrows, bows and flames. All of these are typical symbols of Eros. The arrows he shoots to make people fall in love and the fire that warms and ignites the heart.
This pair of French Empire candlesticks has been executed in mercury gilded bronze with a original mat and shiny gilding. They are in a good condition.
