Neapolitan school of the second half of the seventeenth century
Nativity with the adoration of the shepherds
oil painting on canvas,
with a golden frame of the time
(cm): canvas 126 x 84
with frame 153 x 111
The great canvas, dating back to the second half of the seventeenth century, depicts the particular moment of adoration of shepherds to the Nativity.
Notwithstanding that the work is still under specific allocation, it is possible to grasp analogies with some Neapolitan masters operating in the seventeenth century, including the brothers Cesare and Francesco Fracanzano or Jusepe de Ribera, up to Luca Giordano. All these painters were able to combine the Neapolitan baroque dictates with strong ascendants of the Spanish matrix.
The preservation conditions of the painting are very good.
