Precious table with lacquerware from China

In black and gold lacquered wood, animated on all sides of palace scenes, pagodas, Chinese characters, dragons ...

The table rests on a lyre base also richly decorated on its set and finished by claws in gilded wood.

The interior entirely inlaid under the stage of a large stage is composed of numerous lockers including four covered.

More than thirty delicately carved objects for sewing are present: reels, boxes, hose reels, needle cases ...

The weaving under the base allows to accomodate the realizations thanks to a sliding door.

Signed "Patent" on the lock.

An object of very good quality, from its decors, its invoice but also its finely carved objects.

Provenance: Family of the Marquises of Preaulx and Aligre.

A similar model present at the Château de Pau allows us to know a little more about the original table presented here. According to the research of the former imperial palace of Pau the model present in the castle is clearly the gift of Queen Victoria offered to the empress Eugenie in 1856.

This diplomatic gift whose similarities are evident is visible on the site of the castle of Pau: http://chateau-pau.fr/objet/table-work

The restorer, Anne Jacquin, tells us that "the decoration of lacquer and gold is characteristic of a Chinese production from the Qing period (1644-1911)." We speak for this type of furniture, a large part of which was intended To the export, of "lacquer of Canton." Its dating would be to place in the first decades of the XIXe century.
