A pair of large armchairs known as “Queen-style,” made of carved and gilded beech wood, and seat upholstered à "châssis".
The flat backs, shaped like a “police officer’s hat,” are finely carved all around their edges with a frieze of heart-shaped rays beneath a beaded border; they are adorned in the center with acanthus leaves supporting a bursting pomegranate, and the side posts are topped with a stylized fruit. The armrest supports, finished with scrollwork, are decorated with a beaded border and acanthus leaves.
The aprons feature a wide frieze of piastres surmounted by a band of heart-shaped rays.
The four tapered, fluted legs. In very good condition.
These beautiful chairs bear the mark of Henri Jacob (1753–1824).
Henri Jacob, first cousin of Georges Jacob, received numerous commissions from the court in the late 18th century. He ceased his activities in 1802
