In rosewood veneer with kingwood stringing, brass inlays and chased and gilt-bronze ornamentation, the front opening with two wire-mesh doors, resting on a plinth with an openwork apron.

It opens with two wire-mesh doors at the front, allowing the books to be displayed while protecting them. The marquetry motifs and rosewood veneer are complemented by kingwood stringing with brass inlays.
The style of this bookcase with wire-mesh doors may be compared to bookcases bearing the FG stamp (François Guillemard, one of the suppliers to the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne), a stamp used by two generations of Parisian craftsmen working under the reign of Louis XIV, during the Régence and under Louis XV.
