A splendid pair of small carved wooden panels, gilded and painted, depicting Saint Jerome and Saint Simon with their respective attributes.
The polychrome paint applied over the gold, in excellent condition, illustrates the incredible quality of the polychrome work found in 16th-century Spanish sculpture, with its translucent effects against a gold background and its needle-point decoration.
