This icon depicts the healing of the woman who had suffered from continuous bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on physicians, yet none had been able to cure her. Knowing that, according to Jewish law, she was considered ritually unclean and was not permitted to touch others, she nevertheless approached Christ and touched the hem of His garment. The moment she touched Him, the bleeding ceased. The Savior then said: “Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
The icon was painted in Mstyora (Vladimir Region, Russia).
The icon is in good overall condition. There are minor restorations confined to the border areas, affecting only the brown background in the upper right and lower right corners.
On the reverse is a partially legible inscription:
“A.P. Semyonov” (the surname of the donor)
“1920, with love to Fyodor.”
