Saddle, crafted in carved wood and richly decorated with polychrome paintwork and bone inlays. This piece reflects the traditional craftsmanship of Central Asia and the importance of the horse in Mongolian culture.
The saddle displays a characteristic form, with a high raised pommel and an elongated cantle providing support and stability for the rider during long journeys across the steppes. The entire surface is adorned with hand-painted geometric and floral motifs in red, green, black, and ochre tones, still well preserved today.
The borders are highlighted with finely engraved bone inlays, creating an elegant contrast with the dark patina of the wood. The side panels feature meticulous decoration composed of rosettes, friezes, and stylized motifs typical of 19th-century Mongolian ornamental art.
This saddle constitutes a remarkable ethnographic testimony and is presented on a contemporary black metal stand that emphasizes the rare and exceptional character of the object.
