Beautiful early 19th century liquor or whisky cellar. It is composed of 6 crystal decanters and 12 crystal goblets from Cristallerie du Creusot, housed in their luxurious mahogany veneer case with brass corners, retractable lyre-shaped handles, and a blank cartouche without monogram. The interior is lined with red morocco leather tooled in gilt. Each decanter has its own dedicated and numbered compartment within the case, making it possible to create a map of the spirits presented — such as different whiskies or Cognac — while identifying each one even without labels. Our cellar has retained its rare complete set of 12 liqueur goblets on their red morocco-covered stand, an accessory that has generally disappeared. It is therefore exceptionally complete, including its original working key.
This is a work from the late Empire or early Restoration period, circa 1820s.
The original glassware is in molded and cut crystal.
The ensemble is in excellent condition. The decanters and goblets are intact, with only a few tiny chips to the extremities of the stoppers, on the sections inserted into the neck and therefore not visible. The French polish has been cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker, with a small localized veneer restoration.
