Large portico clock in gilt bronze and marble, a monumental double-column model in black and white marble, adorned with an exceptionally rich mount of finely chased matte and burnished mercury-gilt bronzes with scrolling motifs, acanthus leaves, and fruit garlands. At the summit stands an eagle with outspread wings. Enamel dial signed Dubois Fils, 20 Rue Saint-Honoré, Paris, with finely chased and gilt bronze hands. Work from the late Louis XVI period, just before the Revolution.
A highly decorative large piece, our clock is in very good condition. Original gilding of superb quality, perfectly preserved and cleaned piece by piece. Wire suspension movement in working order (complete servicing by our clockmaker currently in progress).
