Silverware and Silversmith of the 19th and 20th centuries
Jean-Charles CAHIER (1772 - 1849) TROPHY In silver, in the form of a Medici vase, the two sides of the neck are decorated with allegorical figures of Neptune, the handles with palmette decoration are surmounted by female heads, and the body is adorned with acanthus leaves.
Bearing the inscription "Prize awarded by the King. Year 1827."

Bibliography: Appointed goldsmith to the king in 1817 by Louis XVIII and then by his successor Charles X, Jean-Charles Cahier enjoyed an excellent reputation in religious silverware from his earliest works under the Empire. This trophy is similar to the silver holy water font currently held at the Louvre Museum (OA 11985).
