Pair of carved, lacquered, and gilded wooden stools, Barocchetto period, Turin, mid-18th century
This refined pair of stools was crafted in Turin during the Barocchetto period (Rococo), around the mid-18th century. Each stool features a seat upholstered in green fabric, in good condition, outlined by a gilded wooden trim that defines its perimeter. The carved wooden structure is lacquered in blue and decorated with raised reliefs lacquered in yellow. Finished on all four sides, the stools display a central rocaille-style motif with phytomorphic decorations and a pierced central element highlighted in gold.
The uprights are adorned with matching yellow-lacquered reliefs, each with a gilded central detail that enhances their visual volume and brightness. Leaf-carved decorations are also present near the feet on all four legs. A gilded trim runs along the entire perimeter and curls into a scroll at the feet.
Elegant and visually striking, this pair of stools can be placed even in the center of a room. Easily combined with antique furnishings, they can also enhance and enrich interiors decorated in a modern style.
