Just like his master Jean-Victor Bertin Coignet devotes himself to landscape art, but however abandons the neo-classical style for a more naturalistic style. His paintings are inspired in particular by his many trips to the Baden-Baden region or even to Switzerland. This representation of a waterfall evokes the picturesqueness of a region such as Tyrol.
