Raoul Larche (1860–1912)
“Les blés” – Important Four-Light Table Lamp
An exceptional gilt bronze table lamp by the sculptor Raoul Larche, this work exemplifies the refined naturalistic and decorative aesthetic of the late 19th century.
Entitled “Les blés” (“The Wheat”), the composition presents a delicately rendered vegetal motif, where wheat stalks rise gracefully to form the light-bearing arms. The fluid and organic treatment of the bronze reflects the artist’s craftsmanship, in the spirit of the Art Nouveau movement, where nature and movement merge in sculptural harmony.
This impressive four-light lamp, standing 60 cm high, captivates both as a sculptural object and as a decorative lighting piece. The original gilt patina, untouched and without any restoration, enhances the relief and amplifies the play of light, reinforcing the vitality of the composition.
The work is signed “RAOUL LARCHE” on the base and bears the foundry mark of Siot-Decauville, along with the number “832 H”, attesting to its authenticity and quality of casting.
Both an artwork and a functional object, this lamp stands as a remarkable testament to Raoul Larche’s talent and to the excellence of French bronze production at the turn of the 20th century.
