Astronomy clock, Empire period

A monumental and superb clock depicting “Astronomy” in patinated and gilt bronze with enamel, set on a green “vert de mer” marble base. It features a very rich decoration of gilt bronzes, including a sundial, a telescope, a compass, a square, and a magnificent blue enamel terrestrial globe scattered with stars. A wide frieze depicts putti as astronomers.

A clock of museum quality in perfect condition.

A similar model is held in the collections of the Château de Fontainebleau.
