Both horses are rearing up on their hind legs. Their musculature is particularly realistic and detailed. They both wear the same type of bridle, with the ends of the bits clearly visible. The head harnesses are decorated with four phalerae, formed of discs highlighted in blue. The hooves are also painted blue.
Hellenistic art, 4th-3rd century BC, attributed to the workshop of Arpi, Southern Italy.
