Large demi-lune console in carved and gilt wood. It rests on four tapered fluted legs joined by a stretcher decorated with a row of piastres and a vase filled with flowers. The pierced frieze with interlacing and connecting blocks with rosettes in high relief. It supports cascades of flowers held by acanthus leaf clasps, simulated nails and at the centre a large ribbon bow. The console is topped with its white marble top with cavetto edge. Louis XVI period, Parisian work of the 1780s in the taste of Georges Jacob.
Besides its large size, the elegance and the quality of its decoration, this console presents the great interest of being, “as a table”, mounted on four legs, which does not require it to be fixed to the wall in a permanent way like a wall console on two legs.
Very good condition, gilding with gold leaf cleaned and restored. Fine quality of carving, in high relief. No loss to the decoration, no accident.
